Last Mile Broadband Pre-Applications Now Being Accepted

The Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission (TRRC) will accept applications for a second round of Last Mile Broadband (LMB) funding in Spring 2019. Up to $5 million will be made available for projects that provide greater than 10 Mbps/1 Mbps service to tobacco region communities. Applications will be accepted from local governments, and may include partnership with private service providers. A pre-application is required to be submitted by December 21, 2018 to describe a potential project.

Richmond, VA – Governor Ralph Northam announced today that Press Glass has chosen Commonwealth Crossing Industrial Park as the location for their new manufacturing operation. Press Glass plans to invest $43.55 million in a 280,000 square foot facility. The project is expected to create 212 new jobs. Richmond, VA – Governor Ralph Northam announced today that Speyside Bourbon Cooperage, Inc. will establish a bourbon barrel cooperage in Smyth County and a stave mill facility in Washington County. The Company plans to invest $26 million to establish the cooperage and a further $9 million in the stave mill.
